Atacama desert is a high plateau in the north part of Chile, stretched between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes.
The first glimpse you take in the Atacama surroundings will make you feel like you’re visiting another planet.
My exploration of this spectacular region was an emotional and exciting journey through singular landscapes, endless valleys and surprising encounters.
Vast salt flats, deep red rocks, active geysers and intense blue lagoons are just a few of the extraordinary features of this region, like nothing else I have seen before.
Atacama is known as the driest place on Earth, and with its seemingly inhospitable climate, its high elevation and its martian-like geology, you can easily feel you have reached the otherworld.
Throughout my travel around the Chilean plateau, I constantly felt I was in a mystical place, blessed with stunning beauty and breathtaking natural wonders.
I was astonished by the many volcanoes you can admire in every direction and fascinated by the vastness of the landscape and its incredible pastel shades: intense blue sky, warm brown valleys and slopes with multicolor charcoal veins.
Even today, years after my trip to Chile, every time I look at these pictures, I am overwhelmed by a flurry of emotions that enrapture my mind and take me somewhere else with the memory.
The freezing cold nights that I spent in the Atacama region gave me the inspiration for a collection of scarves that reproduce the cozy soft nuances that I could admire during the day.
